The yes man -- one word can change everything.

If you have seen my movie review before, you will find out that all of them have complicated plots, and somehow are all talking about the dark side of human. Today I am going to introduce a jocular and full of life meaning's movie-- The yes man.



Starred by one of my favorite comedians, Jim Carrey, the movie provides not only the amusement but also the meanings in life. I really like Jim Carrey's performance. His exaggerated motion and emotion really make audience laugh out loud. Although he tries to change this humor type into the normal one, but the effect seems not goes well. Yet I still expect his next work in the future, because he is really a great actor.

Now, let's talk about the movie. Carl Allen is a passive bank clerk. He always says no to others, because he thinks everything is wasting his time. Until he attends a speech which is talking about Yes, the prophecy of the lecturer changes Carl's life.

"From now on, you can only say yes. If you say no to others, something bad will happen to you. "


The movie is trying to tell the audience that when facing the challenge in life, we should learn to fight it bravely, instead of evading it. However, it doesn't mean you have to take it all. Chose the way that you can handle. This movie is not teaching you not to refuse others, but how to say yes in a proper way.

When Carl's girlfriend finds out that Carl have to say yes to everything, she suddenly realizes all the promises are just perfunctory. So she dumps him. Saying yes all the time is not the wise decision. I think you have to say yes to the thing you have confidence on it.



This movie also gives me the courage to challenge the unknown things, such as bungee jumping, plane driving, or taking on a plane without planning the trip first. I would like to try the new stuff without thinking too much. If I never do it at the young age, I think I will definitely regret when I get old.


One day, what you had learned which is carried away by a whim will be useful.
I really like the scene when he witnesses a man is going to commit suicide by jumping down the building. He quick witted in an emergency by playing the guitar which he just learned before, and saves the man. Through Jim's humorous performances, I am given the positive thought. Let me want to learn something I will never think about.
 

You can never imagine what will happen in your life. Trying to cultivate some talents not only just for fun but for the future.
Be positive, be prepared, and accepted the chaos that you can handle it.
Just say yes, everything will be different.

The prestige -- Are you watching closely

      Today I am going to introduce a movie that you will want to watch it again and again, that is Christopher Nolan's another prestigious work, The Prestige. It is talking about the competition between two magicians, Alfred Borden and Robert Angier. They all want to become the greatest magician in England, so they use every way to play tricks on each other. The director crosses the time line to misguide the audience and makes them think the truth could be complicated. In fact, the truth is really simple that you can imagine. Starred by Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale, you can say that this movie is the fight between Wolverine and Batman.
       Each trick has three parts:
  Act 1:The pledge, where the audience is presented with an ordinary object.
  Act 2:The turn, where the object is turned into something extraordinary.
  Act 3:The prestige, where the object is brought back.
Now you are looking for the secret, but you won't find it, because of course you're not really looking.You do not really want to know.You want to be fooled.But you wouldn't clap yet. Because making something disappear is not enough; you have to bring it back.



I was stunned when I found out that Fallon is actually Borden's twins brother. Although, Borden has hinted the truth at the beginning of movie. He said "I had already begun a magic, and it could only performed by me." That means he had already shared his life with his brother. They take turns to play Borden. This persistence needs great sacrifice. The brothers could not have the normal life, and have to act for the whole time. I cannot imagine that kind of sacrifice, that pain to share the life with others. Sharing the same wife, the same mistress, and even the child. If you ask me to act all the time, I can tell you that I can't make it. It's really hard to keep this secret. Finally, his obsession to magic force his wife to commit suicide. Borden is actually love his wife very much. It was so cruel that he has to keep pretending, because magic is more important.


        When Borden performs an impressing trick called The transported man. It attracts Angier's attention immediately. Doesn't want to be defeated by him, Angier loses his mind to find the secret. I think he was too obsess with those tricks that he became so pathetic.  He asks Tesla, a scientist, to build a machine for him to perform the amazing trick. What horrible is this machine is actually can clone a real person. Every time after he performs this trick, he has to kill himself, or there will be two of him living in this world. "No one want to be the man in the box."It's true. Who will willing to sacrifice himself and let the other person takes out your glory and the applaud that belongs to you. Every one pursue the vanity. To gain the prestige, you have to sacrifice a lot.  In the end, Angier gains nothing. He loses his wife, his lover, his fame, and his life. He keeps cloning him, however; which one is the real one? Is the person that drunk in the tank, or the man shows up on the stage and accepts audience's acclaim.

 
          I like this scene the most. It's when Borden is going to be executed by hanging, he said goodbye to Fallon. The brothers have strong connection, and it is really sad that they have to be separated forever. All the regret shows at this moment. "You go and live your life in full now. You live for both of us." Now, he is free. He no longer have to act anymore. He can just be who he is. However, is it really worth it?



The secret impresses no one, the trick you use it for is everything.

       The magic is really simple that everyone can imagine. However, nobody believes it. People rather be fooled by the tricks than believes the truth. Sometimes, we bind our eyes to find the truth, because we enjoy in that statement. If you break the trick, it no longer fun.



Exciting, suspicious, and tense, The prestige will never let you down.

Interstellar-- do not go gentle into that good night

Interstellar, stared by Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, is a hit in 2014.
The film is talking about a group of astronauts try to find a planet for human to live in Universe. The earth is declining, and the food is no longer enough to support human. So the NASA decides to send a group of scientists to the outer space, for searching for the suitable planet.  This scientists have to sacrifice their lives and time to accomplish this challenging mission, and they even can't make promise for their family since they don't know when will they come back.

When watching this movie, it is hard to realize the scientific knowledge that the movie convey. Something like four dimensional space or the theory of relativity are hard to understand. But it won't ruin the  movie's exciting plots.




I really like this picture, since it shows the strong relation between protagonist and his daughter. They both look at the rocket which flies into the sky which means they all fascinated about the the science. I never drop down the tears in the movie theater, but this time I cry for many times.
The first time is when Cooper is going to outer space. Murphy can't accept her father is leaving her.
The second time is when Cooper went back the spaceship after an exploration on an unknown planet, he saw his children had grown up. Because of the theory of relativity, one hour on that planet equal seven years on the earth. Before Cooper left, he had told Murphy that when he come back, she might be the same age as him. And now, Murphy is at the same age as Cooper when he left. This scene moves me to tears since I can help but assume I am Murphy. If my father leave me for so long, how can I handle the pain? What if my father is Cooper, will he be sad for not participate my growing process.?

If you have watched this movie, you must be familiar with this poem.
Written by Dylan Thomas, the poem is written for his dying father.
But in this film, professor Brand quoted it for four times. I am curious about the meaning behind this words. I think professor is trying to encourage those scientists and have to keep the attitude of carefulness. Even the earth is no longer useful, we should not lose our faith.

This movie not just talk about the love but also the selfish of human. Some people choose to do what they want in whatever way. For survival, for all mankind, for the pathetic world......

Maybe in the future, our earth will devastate for human keep using it, and force us to find a new home in outer space. At that time, who will be willing to be that man to sacrifice himself for a mission that is uncertainty?

Chappie -- i am the unique one

The director:  

      Neill Blomkamp, the director and screenwriter of both District Nine and Chappie. Since 2009, he has become the well-known director. Born in South Africa, his movies’ backgrounds are all taking place at there. The racial problem is the issue he wants to promote in his movies. If you have seen these two movies, you will discover that there are many comments. District Nine is talking about the alien, and Chappie is talking about the robots. But both are related to the complicated ethnicity.    

      It is kind of black humor movie. Through the life of Chappie, I saw humanity's ugly personality, including greed and vanity. I like the director's unique skills. He uses the news reports to tell the story at the beginning. It makes the event looks like real.      

   

     Today I am going to introduce this fantastic movie, Chappie. The protagonist is a robot which has artificial intelligence. Lived in a disorder city, Chappie is taught by a couple who are the gangsters. At first, he is just like a little baby, waiting for his parents to teach him new stuff. He gradually grows up, and his pure heart is also polluted. the world is not always so kind....     

      I like the scenario that the gangsters are teaching Chappie some bad behaviors such as robbery or menace. Although it is out of moral, it makes me feel sweet because they treat Chappie like a human and even regard it as their child.


      The most touched scenario for me is when Ninja takes Chappie out of the house to see what the real world is, Chappie is bullied by a group of children. Those children throw stone at him and even let him on fire. Just like a little child, Chappie doesn’t realize why they did this to him. The perfect world he initial believes crumbles down immediately. It reminds me that there are so many examples in my society. When someone is acting different, he or she will be bullied for no reason. 

      When Chappie is fondling this dog, it seems that this dog is the only one that understand him. I am  moved to tears. He looks so lonely that is totally contrast to the whole world.

   
      It is a cruel world. If you want to survive, you have to fight. This is the life goal that Ninja tries to convey to Chappie. There was a saying goes that survival of the fittest. Life is a competition. You want to win the game, then you have to make yourself become more stronger.

just be the one you really are.

Predestination--endless circulation

Predestination is adapted from the novel-- All You Zombies which is written by Robert A. Heinlein who was called the dean of science fiction writers. It is a story of a time travel agent. Predestination chronicles the life of a Temporal Agent (Ethan Hawke) sent on an intricate series of time-travel journeys designed to prevent future killers from committing their crimes. Now, on his final assignment, the Agent must stop the one criminal that has eluded him throughout time and prevent a devastating attack in which thousands of lives will be lost.
This movie is talking about the Predestination paradox.
The initial scene is an in medias res when an agent is about to accomplish a mission by disarming a bomb, before the bomb explodes and almost kills him, leaving extremely severe burnings, though he is able to finish his work, being then sent to rehabilitation for a new mission.
The following sequence focuses on a dialogue between a barman and a young man who writes newspaper articles, known by the pen name The Unmarried Mother. As part of a bet, he tells the barman his biography, revealing he was born a girl and was impregnated by a mysterious man at eighteen, just before discovering he is a hermaphrodite and needed an immediate sex change after pregnancy in order to survive. He continues telling that things got even worse when his baby was stolen and he was obliged to adapt to his new gender, ultimately finding a way to survive by becoming a writer.

The plot abruptly changes when the barman takes the young man (John) to a basement and operates a time travel device in order to help the man in finding out who is the man who abandoned him as a woman (Jean) and stole his baby.

In the end, we can find out the barman, John, Jean, and the bomber are the same person. The barman wants to kill the bomber to save the whole world. John wants to kill the man who makes he (her) pregnant and steals he child. However, they find out the man that want to kill are themselves. The snake eats its own tail. Forever and ever.    

After watching this movie, I am so confused that why her baby will become her, and why she can have a baby with the man (is her after the sex change operation)? It doesn’t make any sense. Although this is a great movie, it really needs to think. It is about revenge and love. What you can save yourself is to love yourself. Even though you are abandoned by the world, you still have yourself.
